Helpful Tips & Variations
What do the cards mean?
On your turn, draw one card and do what it says. Color Cards move your piece to the next matching color (two colors mean you move two colored spaces). Challenge & Teamwork Cards— they ask you to complete a fun action, and the Lil Beast name simply shows who the challenge belongs to. Lil Beast Cards send you directly to that Beast’s spot on the board. Skeeter Cards add silly twists and surprises. Reach the Victory Arch to win a round, collect a Lil Beast, and when all Lil Beasts are claimed, the player with the most wins.
How to Use the Bonus Deck
Getting the same cards over and over can get boring, so keep things fresh by rotating in the Bonus Deck. The Bonus Deck adds extra Challenge and Teamwork cards for more variety and fun.Always keep 11 Challenge Cards and 7 Teamwork Cards in your play deck, and swap cards in and out anytime to keep each round silly, exciting, and full of adventure.
What If Kids Can’t Read Yet?
No problem! An adult or older player can read the cards out loud, or kids can play by following the pictures and colors. You can also remove the Challenge and Teamwork cards and play using only the color movement cards — it’s just as fun and great for younger players.
For extra fun, try calling out movements with each color, like:
“Draw purple and do jumping jacks!” or “Draw yellow and do two spins!”
Tips for Repeat Play
Try changing the rules each time you play! Swap in different cards, play as teams one round and solo the next, or set a time limit instead of playing to the end. Every game can feel brand new.
Can We Make Our Own Rules?
Absolutely! Lil Beasts World is designed to be flexible. Change the rules, shorten the game, or create your own challenges to match your players’ ages and energy levels.
Fun Ways to Use Skeeter Outside the Game
Skeeter doesn’t have to stay on the board! Use the Skeeter punchout for quick movement breaks, silly challenges, or anytime kids need to get the wiggles out.
Try these ideas:
- Hide Skeeter around the room and do a movement challenge when you find him
- Let Skeeter “pick” the movement (spin, hop, crawl, dance, freeze)
- Pass Skeeter around — whoever’s holding him chooses the next move
- Use Skeeter as a timer: keep moving until someone yells “SKEETER!”
- Give Skeeter a voice and let him announce silly challenges
Skeeter’s job is simple: keep kids moving, laughing, and a little mischievous.
Skeeter Says…
Skeeter doesn’t play by the rules — and neither do you.
Use Skeeter for quick movement breaks, silly games, or anytime kids need to laugh and move.
- Skeeter Scavenger Hunt – Hide Skeeter and do a movement challenge when he’s found
- Skeeter Says – Just like Simon Says, but sneakier (Skeeter loves tricks!)
- Silly Rule Maker – Let Skeeter invent a new rule for the next round
- Pass the Skeeter – Whoever’s holding Skeeter chooses the next move
- Surprise Moves – If Skeeter appears, everyone jumps, spins, or freezes!
Anytime Skeeter shows up, it’s time to move, laugh, and be a little mischievous.
